Dear Son, on the day you are born.

Dear Son,

We are going to the hospital soon to have your mother induced and you will be born. You are a week past your due date, and making your mother very uncomfortable. Your Grandma Schmidt is here, and your aunt Mandy couldn't wait for you anymore and had to go home.

We are in Biloxi, MS but, we are moving next week to Norfolk, VA. You will never see Biloxi again unless you come back on your own later.

George W. Bush is the President. The United States is fighting a war in Iraq to protect you from more terrorist attacks like the one that happened on September 11, 2001. We have just started to see positive results from the troop surge, and now our soldiers can start coming home.

Global Warming is one of the biggest news items of the day. I don't know why it gets more coverage than the war but it does. Everyone seems to be afraid that you will not have a future because of it. Your father is a meteorologist and I am sure that you will be laughing about this.

Gas is $2.91 per gallon here. The Top Movies of the day are:

Confessions of a Superhero
Eleven Men Out
Smiley Face
Margot at the Wedding
Redacted
Love in the Time of Cholera

Of which I have not seen any. Your mother and I just like popcorn and that is the only reason we see movies. The writers guild is on strike, so television shows are about to be re-runs only. Which is also OK with us as the only shows we watch are The Office, and House.

Your mother is the most beautiful woman in the world! She is so strong. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is very intelligent, good luck getting away with stuff around her. I know that she will be able to show you the way through life if you will only listen to her and respect her.

You have such a wonderful family, from your grandparents and aunts and uncles to cousins and our friends that will always be around for you. You have been blessed with the best support group you could ask for. Please never be afraid to ask them for advice, as I always do. Although, it makes for a big list for baby announcements.

We do not have a name firmly selected yet, but B Adley Wells is the top of my list. We created a website for your name and I will print out all the names that your family has suggested and voted on for you. I hope you don't mind that I put ultrasound photos of your boy parts on the internet, (sorry but you are so cute). Forgive me again for calling you cute.
